Ralph Poynter, husband of political prisoner Lynne Stewart, to address InPDUM's International Convention in St. Petersburg!

ST PETERSBURG, FL—Ralph Poynter, the husband of political prisoner and lawyer Lynne Stewart, will be speaking at the international convention of the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement’s (InPDUM)’s “One Africa! One Nation! Build Revolutionary Organization to Protect and Defend Our Own” on March 23, 2013 in St. Petersburg, FL.

Ralph Poynter has spoken throughout the country in defense of Lynne Stewart, including at the National Lawyers Guild convention where he passionately urged the audience, “Defend and champion Lynne Stewart, one of our own! Defend and champion all political prisoners! Set her free! Set ‘em all free!”

For more than 30 years, Lynne Stewart fearlessly represented African, Arab and other oppressed people who resisted or were victimized by the U.S. imperial state. She took their cases to the colonial courts and most of the time she brilliantly defeated the U.S. terrorist government on its own turf.

A longtime supporter of the Uhuru Movement and for justice for oppressed peoples, Lynne is a hero who stood in solidarity with Arab and African people even as the government began intensifying its counterinsurgency against anyone who speaks the truth and fights for justice.

As a 72-year-old breast cancer patient, Lynne is currently locked down in a Texas federal medical center for “aiding and abetting her client,” Egyptian Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, who was falsely convicted of charges relating to the World Trade Center bombing of 1993.
